Happy Birthday Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday To You

This little song was written in the 1800's and wasn't copyrighted until the 1930's. The copyright is currently owned by Warner and currently brings in about a Million Dollars a year. Not bad for a four line song that is that old. It's probably the most popular song in the English Language.

This week on Night School we have put some different versions of Happy Birthday for you to enjoy and also some other Birthday Songs.

Sit back and have a Happy Birthday even if it's NOT your birthday today.
Songs in Night School #5

It's Your Birthday- Beatles
a Hindu version of Happy Birthday
A Filipino Birthday Song
Feliz Cumpleanos- Spanish version
Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday to President Kennedy
Happy Birthday Sweet 16 by Paul Anka

All I can really say is

H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y

      <description>&lt;img src="http://nighschool.podOmatic.com/mymedia/thumb/7920/0x0_626360.jpg" alt="itunes pic" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;THE LOST EPISODE "NIGHT SCHOOL #2" HAS BEEN FOUND!

Good News. We found the lost episode back in some corner of the computer. We are presenting it here very belatedly and we are cupable for that.

It's a good Podcast and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did in making it.

Night School #2

How do you do that?
Students give mini presentations on "How to do something.&#8221;

Here are some possible topics:
1. How to start a car
2. How to use a photocopier
3. How to make a cup of tea
4. How to make an omelet
5. How to change a tire
6. How to change baby's nappy
7. How to make a telephone call
8. How to play Golf
9. How to play Cricket

This can be more or less complicated, as the teacher wishes.
It can, for example, be a 4-minute delivery with no visual aids,
or a 15-minute expos&#233; with OHPs and handouts followed by
questions.
Other students in the class may ask questions during and after
the explanation.

Target Vocabulary

Fourth

THE NAME GAME
Listen to the song with your students. Get them to remember the sequence of the game. Go around the class doing the student's names. They will love it. It's great fun and they will be singing the song for Days and Days.

First Ten Strategies to Improve Your English

1.Use a monolingual dictionary, but try not to use the dictionary too much.

2.	Look for opportunities to use the language in natural communication both inside and outside of class.

3.	Compensate for your lack of linguistic ability by: occasionally using your native language, asking for help (repeat, clarify, slow down, give examples), guessing, using mime or gesture, and describing the concept for which you lack a word.

4.	Don't be afraid to make mistakes.

5.	Evaluate your own progress and work harder in the skills you are weaker.

6.	Hypothesize. Before you read a grammar rule, try to formulate it yourself by analyzing the examples.

7.	Don't pretend to understand when you don't. If you don't understand something, say so.

8.	Be persistent, and don't give up easily.

9.	Keep a language diary and record whatever you learn each day.

10.	Limit your expectations to those that are reasonable and attainable. Be patient.

WHO STOLE THE CAMERA

Read the Clues. Then try to figure out who stole the camera. Compare your conclusion with the other groups in your class. Does everyone agree?

SITUATION
An expensive camera has been stolen from HACKENSPIT Department Store in New York. The store detective was near the camera department when the theft occurred. The store was very crowded at the time, but he is sure that the thief was one of five people. However, none of them has the camera now.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS
Ruth Wells, age 42 lawyer (from Houston)
Phillip Douglas, age 25 artist (from New York)
Harry Lewis, age 32, accountant (from Dallas)
Eleanor O&#8217;Toole, age 25, architect (from San Antonio)
Timmy Butman, age 16, high school student (from Philadelphia)

CLUES
The lawyer has two children.
Three of the suspects are single.
Timmy was wearing a T-shirt, jeans and was not carrying any bags.
The artist owns one of the best cameras made.
The camera was stolen for the thief&#8217;s &#8220;sweetheart.&#8221;
The camera was finally found in a dressing room in the men&#8217;s department.
The thief is not a parent.
The architect has been married for two months.
The thief doesn&#8217;t have a camera, but is very interested in photography.
The camera was smuggled out of the camera department.
